So you’ve decided you want to be a coach, now what?

  1. Reach out to your local association to see how you can get involved. If you are unsure who to contact, reach out to Brooke at brooke@ringetteontario.com
  2. Check out your Coaching Requirements (see below) to get a head start on the training you will need to complete to become a qualified coach
  3. Create a Locker Account to get an NCCP Number: Click Here
    • This account will be used to complete training modules needed to coach and maintain your certification. 
  4. Create a Ringette Canada Coaching Account: Click Here
    • This account will be used to sign up for ringette coaching clinics as well as keep track of all the training you have done/will need.
  5. Check your coaching requirements (see below). Ensure you understand the requirements that are specific for the level you are coaching.
  6. Check the deadlines (see below). Ensure you meet the requirements by the deadline to be a qualified coach. 

 

Coaching Requirements:

All coaches and team staff members (managers and trainers) must complete the necessary requirements to be qualified. See what you need to be qualified bench staff member:

Coaching Clinics are required for both head and assistant coach positions.

Coaching Deadlines:

All coaches and team staff members (managers and trainers) must complete the necessary requirements by November 30th.

All Competition-Introduction *Trained* coaches that require a certified status (U14AA, U16AA & U19AA Assistant and Head Coaches) must become Competition-Introduction *Certified* by January 31st.

E-LEARNING COURSES

E-learning courses can normally be taken at any time online, normally involving information that must be read, click-through activities, videos, and multiple-choice questions.

 

ONLINE CLASSROOM COURSES

Online classroom courses are courses that require live attendance with interactions with the facilitator and fellow candidates, through a laptop, PC, or mobile device, with a webcam and microphone.

  • Developing Mentally Healthier Communities Through Sport uses evidence based mental health information and a sport-based approach to cover topics such as managing emotions, building healthy relationships, coping with loss, and connecting participants to support. Through the website https://mentalwellnessinsports.ca/ you can access:

    • eLearning modules for coaches, parent coaches and volunteers. Each module takes approximately ten minutes to complete. Modules teach practical skills that coaches can start using immediately to support the mental wellness of sports participants.
    • Videos for athletes and participants of all ages that incorporate sport, skills building, and positive messages about mental wellness.
    • Downloadable mental wellness tip sheets for athletes and sports participants and their supports.
